New 650 Cat

what the hell is this guy trying to get at with all the "Groundbreaking" crap. Basically, this bike is what Kawasaki should have done with that engine first time around, but they leaned more towards sport and were successful with it. What do you have to do to be groundbreaking anyway? Develop something completely original? Like a quad with a freakin steering wheel or something? The 650 is definitely worthy of being a front page bike. Its the best utility ever made from the design and engine combined. And the Prairie 700 is just a faster Prairie 650 if you want to talk about that being groundbreaking for some reason.
Well, if nothing else, I guess the receiver hitch is groundbreaking, because nobody has done that yet. Look at the total package. 650 V-twin power (the reason the Prairie won so much praise, because take it away and its just another straight axle quad), locking differential, massive clearance, good width for good stability, selectable 2wd/4wd, digital display... come on, it has everything that anyone has asked for. (except a manual shift option of course).
Its a bike that can do about anything you want. It will climb rocks, mud as good as anything else, have a good ride, and still run 65mph if you wanted. I doubt it corners like a Z400, but you aren't going to get that with any utility.
But of course, I'm sure the magazines will either give the shootout to the Rincon or the 700 Prairie when that time comes, because they have constantly belittled the Arctic Cats. They don't ever do a rock crawling and sheer mud bogging section in their tests. They just drive them over a few railroad ties, then through a puddle or two, and then they all jump and race. Seems like the one that is fastest and jumps the best always wins the magazine shootouts.

Personally I dont care if AC makes any page of a ragmag. I dont buy em. Worthless. So i dont get your point no. Others might.
LOL i didnt get this typed and theres Andy... Guess he dont get the point either. Its ok to not get the point tho...
So yes i dispute. I think this machine should be on the cover of some mags.

OK, you have also missed the point, but hell, I guess if you are determined not to see it.... I can lead a blind horse to water but I can't make him drink.
My last attempt. What (other than the reciever hitch, big whoop) does this quad have that the Polaris 700 doesn't ? How about a whopping inch and a half more ground clearance, 3 inches more suspension travel in the front, a whole half inch in the rear, and it holds an extra 2 gallons of fuel. It also has 50 less cc's of displacement, and I would be willing to bet weighs more (I could tell you if the AC website functioned properly). This here is what you are telling me is enough to be considered something new and great in the ATV world? Yes, I know people die for that ground clearance and that travel difference in certain situations. Certainly they do. Are those ultra-rare occasions going to win this quad a spot in the hearts of America? I doubt it. People will look at it like I do - a slightly better bike in certain situations than the '03 model Prarie 650, because of the independant rear suspension setup.
Oh, and by the way Andy, check the mag covers. You'll see a lot of the new Yamaha - it is the highest power/weight ratio ever in a 4 stroke. That is new. That is exciting. 5 Titanium valves, people say "wow, thats new!" I don't see many people saying that about the general design of the all-so-wonderful-in-your-eyes 650 Cat. Good luck, though. I'm goin to bed

haha you just answered your own question. 13 inches of ground clearance, radial tires, huge low center of gravity fuel tank, 10 inches of travel on every wheel, diff. lock, digital display, huge rack capacities, powerfull motor, receiver hitch, fully independent suspension, MRP rack, are you getting my point? What do you expect it to have that could be so groundbreaking that your talking about, a six cylinder motor? Its not gonna be great for one new gimmick or idea but the overall package. It may or may not be deserving of a cover but it should get way more credit than people are giving it. BTW big deal on the YFZ450- i mean who didnt see that one coming from a mile away- a WR motor in a quad chassis- people have been putting the YZ and CRF 450 motors in quads for years. Yeah i'll admit yamaha deserves some credit for being the first to produce it in mass numbers but its not groundbreaking.

Andy Bassham you said it is [the 650] the best utility made. Utility means working not sport and in working conditions it will NEVER hold a candle to the Bombardier Traxter and it's only a 500. Witch has the strongest platform period. Go check it out. You will see for your self. NO belt drive is going to push and pull and hold up with a gear drive; With out replacing Belts. Also the Traxter don't even use your standard 4-wheeler or motorcycle gears; the use much heavier automotive gears.
