Way to go Andy & Trick 188, I was going to reply to this post today, but you guys pretty well sumed it up. I'm sure gonna take a look at the 650AC, for my next ride. It has what i've been waiting for, 650 twin, locking diff, IRS, digital readouts, but like you Andy i'd prefer a manual tranny. Being used to riding a 600 SP & I like the ground clearance & IRS , the ride is like no other,IMO. Have also had some great rides on Grizzily's & 500SP in the high desert country in Ariz. So Trick 188 , you think the 650AC will be great , thats good to hear from a mechanics viewpoint. Anything on the AC to be aware of, especially the auto tranny, any springs to change, etc.?

Well I didn't know that you guys were able to tell the future. AC650 best damned machine to hit the market ain't even on show room floor yet, he .he. And I knew about the Hummer & KQ. I also see where yall are coming from so I will not respond to this any more. After all you have Mr. certified to answer all you questions. Good luck!

Are you asking me if I have anything against AC? I hope not. I haven't said a bad thing about them yet. In fact, I even pointed out that we have 3 in the family. All that I did say was that I didn't think it was magazine cover material. It doesn't have the excitement factor that a new sport quad does, and it isn't revolutionary like the first V-twins were. It is what it is, and that is a great combination of features. Will it ever be the cover story of Dirt Wheels? I say no. That's my opinion, and that is what this thread started about. Why did I mention the Polaris? Because it is IRS and a Vtwin - as far as I know, it is the only other bike out there with that combo. Correct me if I'm wrong. I didn't say it's name to suggest it was better, but that a like bike was out there already. I will bet you that the Polaris did grace covers though.. you know why? Because it was the first IRS Vtwin! Why won't the AC? Cause it is the second, it has lost the excitment. If the AC were to be a Vtwin, IRS, manual shift, I would bet cash they would be on covers. Because that would be new! - I'm out.

I'm not saying the 650 will definently be the best utility quad ever made but it should be pretty close. True it isnt out yet but i have seen it at the vegas arctic cat dealer meeting and talked to the engineers and it looks very impressive. I'm not sure if the auto system will hold the same arctic cats auto system seeing that it uses a servo motor instead of a second clutch but i guess its been good on the kawi so far. I'v only had one clutch ever have a problem on a cat and it was just a loose nut.

An Arctic Cat chassis with a Prarie 650 engine... tought chassis with a tough engine, good combination, along with all the other goodies, they should make this thing in other colors besides lime green, lime green looks good, but what about black, or red, or even blue...
