500 manual clutch adjust? please
#2
Sxr6, this is for the 500 Suzuki, they share the engine. On the right side, to the left and below the oil fill there is an oval shaped cover, remove the 2 screws holding it on. Now draw yourself a picture- it is much easier to understand. The upper left locknut is labeled 1, the lower right locknut is labeled 2 and the right adjusting screw (held by the locknut)is labeled three.
To save you from searching, you'll need a 9/16 and a 10mm wrench. I didnt write down the third one, but it's obvious. From the suzuki maintenence manual:
*loosen locknuts 1 and 2
*rotate the adjusting screw 3 on the right side counterclockwise until it stops.
*tighten locknut 1 on left side (hold screwdriver in screw to keep it from adjusting)
*rotate the adjusting screw 3 on the right side 1/4 to 1/2 turn clockwise.
*tighten the locknut 2 by holding the adjuster (screwdriver in screw)
* Install clutch adjuster cover
If you like to torque things, locknut 1 goes 7 ft/lbs and locknut 2 goes 16.5 ft/lbs.
Hope that helped. Draw the picture! It helps alot!
