I was offered a new set ov 27" vampires for a really good price. i went riding with some guys last night and one of them had the same tires on his grizzly. we were not 5 minutes into the ride when he broke the right rear axle/cv joint. i am worried that if i put these tires on my ac i will have the same problem. i was looking into getting a set of 26" tires, brand/type yet to be determined, but the price is almost too good to be true on the vampires. do any of you have any experience with these tires or tires of this size on a stock bike. i have a '03 500i manual that is not even 2 weeks old. are there going to be clearance problems? how much power will i lose? how prone to breaking will i be? where is the weak link? any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

I'd have to recommend Mudlite XT's if you're going to use an oversize tire. They're a lot lighter than Vamps, and still have an aggressive tread pattern. They're also a 6 ply tire. The reason for this is less weight to spin, and that's easier on every component of the driveline, including CV's and brake shoes. They're probably cheaper than the Vamps too

I just got a set of 26" Mudlites this weekend. I have a 400 Auto and I didn't notice much performance loss. I did notice a lot better traction! They ride great too.

It seems like most people are going much bigger than that. Like 27's or 28's. But for me, I just wanted better tires and didn't want to put too much stress on my buggy.
