Ok, mine is an 03 400 4X4 manual... and they did not come with low range reverse (in Canada anyway, don't know about US models). As far as I know the automatics are in high range reverse as well ( after I found out the facts the hard way I went and asked our only dealership up here). You should find out when you're stuck in the mud or somewhere, a lot of times mine won't even be able to turn a wheel 'cause it's geared too high. The 02 models had high and low range rev. but they changed things for the 03 models... . Well, I went and got a jet kit, K&N filter... to get a little more bottom end power, it helped a bit.
Bottom line is that this 400 AC is still a lot of ATV for the money (I use ATV's for 16 years mainly for work), easy to work (service) on and I will get another AC (this time for more play) as soon as I have more cash.

 

yeah.....the reverse is pretty low on myn......and it stays that way unless you press and HOLD a little yellow button that is next to the electric start button....then it takes off, it'll spin the wheels in reverse when I hold that thing down......not much, but it does
