A buddy of mine purchased a used regulator for a kawi from a salvage yard and it was no good, and they give NO warranty on electrical parts. So the question is: was it bad from them or did it blow due to a problem with the quad? Either way you pay. So I don't recommend used.

As far as why it went out could be several things. Frayed wiring that grounded out. Connections loose, Connections not sealed or just time for it to go. I would check all connections before installing the new V/R.
