A while back I posted a squealing noise I get from my machine. A couple of you replied, and thought it was the rear brakes sticking, I don't think it is. I get this squeal after braking hard, coming to a complete stop, and then the squeal is when I start off again. It sounds like its from the tranny, clutches, or belt. Like I said, it only does it when I take off again. Any one hear this squeal or know what it is? '00 AC Auto 500.

I get the same noise, exactly as you described it.It is the belt. I had my belt housing off with the rear end sitting up in the air and running in gear. Accelerating and locking the brakes up "locks" the belt up in the rear pulley, and loose in the front pulley(drive). When you hit the gas the drive pulley "grabs" the belt with a squeel(because it's not tight). If you slow down normally the belt stays tight in both pulleys(like it supposed to be) hence no squeel upon acceleration. It is not something I am worried about.Hope this helps.

I hadn't trouble shot it like you did, but thats exactly what I thought was going on. I'm waiting to see if someone will come up with a high performance clutch kit, maybe that will take care of it. Thanks for the input!

I had the belt cover off to clean out my clutch after some fun in the mud. Once I got the clutch cleaned up I decided to check out the belt squeeling otherwise I don't know if I would have pulled the cover off to check it out. I talked to the dealer about it and since they are in the process of replacing my primary clutch and belt they are gonna look into the problem when they get it back together. I will let you know what,if anything they come up with.

Great, I'll be looking forward to hear what they have to say. What happened to your clutch anyway? Why does it have to be replaced?
