Default stock winch switch

i have a 2000 AC 300 4x4 and lately every time i go to start it, the battery is dead. Last winter i was having problems starting my quad because the winch switch gets stuck and strains the battery. Has anyone had the same problem?? Is there anything else i should check(electrical) before i order an aftermarket handlebar mounted switch? Thanks for any help

Question for ya. I have heard our winch pulling in and letting out. Not the quietest thing out there, wouldn't you here your winch if the switch was stuck???

I know the winch is not in use when you start the quad. But if your button was stuck as in pulling the cable back in, wouldn't you hear the thing wether you ride is on or off??? Unless my thinking is not correct here, Can the winch be operated with the wheeler key off?? I never really tried it.

I believe the winch will work with the key off. I would check the solenoid. Although you would hear the solenoid clicking. What you may want to do is disconnect the + side if the lead from the batteery and listen to see if the solenois is sticking. Also what you may want to do is disconnect the winch after you ride and let it sit overnight and see if indeed it is actually the winch or some other thing that is causing the battery to drain. I would try that first...Let us know..
