BEWARE 300 CV Boot guards
#1
Last weekend I installed AC rear CV boot guards, on my 00 300 4x4. The parts have been on B/O for three months. They were a bit of a bear to put on, the mounting holes don't line up worth a dam. After a little bit of cussing they finally went on. Check it out, everything looked fine, took it for a toot, no problems. A few days later I take it for a good work out. After power washing half the swamp off I notice grease around the boot and no band. It seemed that once the suspension travelled it's full range of motion the guard sheered the cv boot band right off.The right rear guard was manufactured incorrectly. The real funny thing about this is I bought the guards to protect the boots in the first place, not destroy them.

mine did the same thing but 2 big sticks and a pinecone got hung in them and sheaded them also in superlow if the suspension botoms out it will bend your low range all the way in and you will be stuck in super low not fun 3 miles from the house mine are in the corner of the shop now I took the off

Yes, he came good for it, after a bit of haggling. They said cat would not cover a boot under warranty and that it would be two hours labour to replace the boot band. I told him to forget it, and I would install it myself. He then reconsidered and said he'd find a way to cover it. He treated me right, and besides that he's after my repeat business. When I'm looking to trade up I'll be sure to check him out.
