Default CV boots cheaper?

Hey guys both my uncle with his 2002 500i (rear in) and I on my 2002 300 (rear outer) busted our first CV boots at a thousand miles each. AC wants over 30 bucks for a new boot, thats crazy for a piece of rubber and soem lube and clamps. I was at autozone and saw the "universal kit" for less than 10 bucks. It looks liek it will work comes with clamps and grease, even looks tuffer than the stockers. I have heard of guys using auto CV boots, but will this universal kit work, any experiences? Or is there a specific car model liek the 1985 pulsar or something to order instead? Should I try this universal kit or forget it and just suck it up and put the stocker back on for 30 bucks? Are the CV boots the same inner and outer? Are the boots the same on my 300 as on my uncles 500i? Thanks for your help guys!!!

P.S. it sucked to have honda guys making fun of me so I gotta get this thing fiked A.S.A.P. and get back on the trail so I can pull them out of mud-holes again.
