Default ac 650 gas tank

I been looking around for a 650 arctic cat but my dealer has not got his in yet. MY question is Where is the gas tank located on them? I've been told the LE series are up top behind the handle bars where they have always been, but the plain 650 series is located in the right rear fender. What is the advantage of the gas tank being in the fender against the gas tank being on top?

No 650's come with a tank mounted gas tank. That's the location of the airbox for the V-twin.

The rear mounted tank does give a lower center of gravity, which makes the bike handle better. This leaves room for a handy glove box where the conventional tank is.

BTW.... Most of the literature you've seen on the LE shows a saddle tank, just because it's not a 650. It's a 500 that they've re-badged for the photo shoot (this includes their brochure, and the DVD, and many magazine articles).
