Breaks freezing up
#1
I have a 2003 500i that on a cold day when I went in water and maybe drove about 1 mile or so and left the cat sit for 2 hrs in 25 degree weather the breaks froze up and could not move the machine. Another time when they got wet while riding the breaks would not work do to ice film on breaks.
The other riders with me Honda Forman and Polaris 500 did not have this problem. Has anyone else ever had there breaks freeze up if so have you found a wat to fix it other than only riding in warm weather.

as for the guy with the honda, i believe honda uses sealed drum brakes so the water doesnt get in there. the downside to this is i have never rode a honda that had the braking ability that my cat does.

Up here in Alberta we run into the same problem all winter. There is no fix that I am aware of except to apply the brakes early and gently pump to clear the ice from the discs before you really need them. Not satisfactory but thats the way it is with discs in wet snow or water in freezing conditions.
