I'm looking at getting a new bike here and its between the honda 400ex and arctic cat. Reverse isn't a big deal to me but if the Honda and DVX are the same price I will go with the Cat, even though I love Honda's. Anyways I can get a 04 DVX 400 for $7600 OTD, but right now I'm waiting to hear about a leftover 03 400ex, that someone else has some money on but the deal is still up in the air. If I dont end up getting the honda I will be getting the cat since the best deal I can get on a honda is $7500 and I already have a good relationship with the cat dealer since I have bought a few snowmobiles from him.
Just wanted to know how everyone like their DVX and if they have had any problems with them? I know that its the same as the z-400 but will body/chasis parts like skidplates from the z work on the dvx, because that will be my first investments. All motor parts are interchangeable (air filter, jet kits, exhaust) right?
Thanks.

In the States, there's a ~$500 difference in sticker price between a 2004 400EX and DVX400 (Honda is $5299, DVX is $5799).

they are both great machines, so if you dont mind not having reverse, then save some money and go with the 400ex...there arent very many differences that are noticable by a trailrider....like myself....and most parts are interchangable between the Z and the DVX...but if you get a DVX the dealer should have an accesories book that has skid plates for the DVX in them...i have the book somewhere and i think the center skid plate is about 120 or something and the rear one is pretty close to that much...and if he dont have a book you can order them from here....DVX ACCESORIES

I just got my dvx, and I LOVE IT. It has sooo much more low end grunt than my predator. I'm gonna pipe it though to give it a little more power throughout the range, but I am VERY pleased with it. If you get one, I'm sure you'll love it, cuz I'm very picky when it comes to quads and I love it. Hope this helps.

dang man thats alot for a 400ex but i love my kfx 400, same as and cat. i got it out the door for $4800 it was a left over 03 model but a new 04 was only 300 more. at my deal they want $400 more for the 400ex so that made my decision fast cheaper for a better bike. I just simply must have rev.

Hey there 01redrecon,

So where abouts do you live in NB? I'm guessing your checking that DVX at G Bourque's cuz I went there a couple weeks ago and they were asking $7600 for it.. Nice looking machine, I think your definately making the right decision buying that DVX over the 400 EX especially if your going to be doing trail riding with it. I had 4/3wheelers with and without reverse and I would never get another without it. If it wouldn't be for our winters, I'd probably consider another sport 2WD ATV but I love to ride in the winter so when I do get something, its going to be a 4by. They have sooo many great ATV's out there now that give the options of sport, utility etc. The only thing I'm disappointed about is the lack of Yamaha's interest in updating there (IMO) best sport ATV, the "Wolverine". More displacement, optional 2/4wd with diff locker would make it pretty much unbeatable. I had a 99 Wolverine a couple years back but sold it along with a trailer to buy my house here in Dieppe. I'm going to be looking into buying again in the next year or so. I'm really leaning towards YZF 250 WR on/off road bike since its more practical for me. I would get more use out of it.

Anways, good luck with that DVX. You can check out pics of my 99 Wolverine on my site. Don't mind all the family photos and stuff. All the ATV shots are after the first 2 or 3 folders.. Enjoy..

Hey slywolf, I live just outside of Fredericton. I was looking at the DVX for $7600 out at T&T Snowmobiles in McAdam, that is where I get my sleds so I think I will get it there since I have had great service from them. I will be keeping my recon for a while yet for hunting and the little bit of snow riding I do on a ATV. Thats a nice looking Wolvy you had.

Just installed all the go-fast goodies on my DVX a few weeks ago - used all Zuke Z400/Yosh stuff and I'm more than happy! The DVX was pretty impressive out of the box, all the tuning had made it just plain wild!
Had a buddy get on it right after I got it back together & after a short ride he brought it back and claimed that I was NUTZ! He felt like it was way overboard, but he's not used to hot rodded quads really so I guess it really did surprise him.
Overall, so far, so good! no major problems - the DVX seems to work real good!
