Default AC650 Brake question

Fizzo, I am wanting to take it in and get them to take a shim out. I have 75 miles on it now and I think I can hear the belt when I start and when going down hills it sounds like surging.

Default AC650 Brake question

redmtn, more than likely you're brake pads still have the glaze on them . They need to be burnished to remove this, its even in the owners manual, dealers should know this. The Cat has
very good brakes using the lever, foot brake not so good. Engine braking also very good on mine, as well as starting & running. These things you mention are not the ordinary with the AC 650. It is one sweet machine & i wouldn't trade mine for anything out there. I've had mine since Oct. 6th & with the exception of going into the limp mode at 137 miles, no problems whatsoever. Do get the reset harness though, just in case. Regards, Jerico1

Default AC650 Brake question

Thanks for the info. When I first bought the Cat, I drove it at the dealer. I noticed that the brakes didn't work well. The dealer agreed and bled the brakes. He also drove the cat up and down the street about 20 times to burnish the brakes. He also adjusted the foot brake. Doing all of this, it seemed to help a little. When I got home, I also drove up and down a private back road to burnish the brakes. I can slow down and stop on flat ground, but when I'm going slow, down a relatively steep hill I can't stop. I've done the burnishing procedure about 40 times. I will find out tomorrow what the scoop is. Thanks everyone for your help. I'll let you guys know what happens.

Default AC650 Brake question

redmtn

You have other problems then, let the" dealer deal" with it. You should be able go down pretty steep hills in low range without even touching the brakes, or very little anyway. I was always impressed with the downhill breaking on the Grizzily's i used to ride in the desert country of Ariz. The Polaris 600SP i owned took a whole other technique on the steep slopes, as many Polaris owner's will testify to.(thats another story). The dhb on my 650 is right up there with the Griz, & thats the way yours should be. Hope you have a good service tech. at the dealers. Keep us posted. Regards, Jerico1

Default AC650 Brake question

UPDATE: It's going on three weeks at the dealer. The dealer did duplicate the problem with the engine braking. He said he is working with Arctic Cat, Does not know what the problem with the engine braking is. Will let me know when he hears form Arctic Cat. As far as I know, it still has 4 miles on it... This scares the crap out of me to have my brand spankin new quad wrenched on. 4 miles. I hope I didn't make a mistake buying it.
