I'd like to put the same size tires in the front and back. But someone told me that I may not be able to because on some ATVs the gear ratio is different between the front and the back. Is that true on these new Arctic Cats?

yes the 250 and 300 have different gearing so you need to run a tire that is one inch smaller in the front than in the back, the 400, 500, and 650 are geared so that they run the same diameter tire all the way around

Hey stormdog - how does that cat fit in your truck? I have an 02 Ranger FX4 - just love it - and my Cat 500i fits in the back, but just barely. Seems to handle the load okay, though - you know you have something in the bed, but it isn't throwing you all over the place.

I back it in, ecause the front bumper on the cat overhangs just enough to go right through the rear glass. That could get expensive.

It barely fits. One of the tires has to roll over top of the wheel-well to get it in there. You are right, the front bumper wants to roll through the glass. My winch stops it 1/4" from the glass but in an emergency stop my rear window would be gone. So I built a frame out of scrap lumber to set in the front of the bed. Now the front tires meet up against that and it keeps the front bumper from hitting the window. The rear tires barely clear the tailgate joint. I'm thinking of removing the tailgate when I load/unload it because 600 pounds on the tailgate can't be good for the cables. If I knew I would be buying an ATV, I would have gotten the F-150 again.
