Default rough shift

I've got a 1998 454 2x4 and I love the thing to death, got a question about it though. Whenever I put into reverse and first gear alot of times it kind of jerks and the wheels pop forward or backward. It's done it ever since I got it. Thanks.

Default rough shift

sounds like your idle may be set a bit high, im not sure how you adjust it on a 454 though

Default rough shift

You will find idle adjustment on the right side of unit in front of carb towards bottom. It will be attached to cable running to the left side of carb, start unit and let it warm up about 5 or 10 minutes and back off idle until shift is smooth. If you have just alittle bump when shifted thats OK, but unit should not lurch.
