yeah ebay is your best bet, and keep checkign with your local dealers, used cats are very scarce, even at the 3 cat dealers i have within 60 miles of me, and when one does show up it goes fast. there wa a 454 4x4 in the local paper last fall, i called about it the same day i go the paper and it was gone already

I had the same problem looking for mine. I wanted used so that I was not out a as much cash. This was my first ATV in quite a while and I wanted to be sure I was going to use it. I set a budget and made a brand decision, AC or Yamaha (2nd choice). Any way I looked for a few months on-line for local sales (up to a 100 miles) as well as the local print ads. Very few came ACs up for sale. All of the Yamahas seemed to be beat to death but priced on the high end as clean quads.
Oddly enough I broke down and went to the local AC dealer just to see. He had 2 that fit into my price range and option preference. He cut a deal with me that actually ended up being less that I was going to offer so I took it.

Try Paulsons in Lacey(that's north Olympia). Last time I was there they had a 300 4X4 an a pair of 250 4X4. Their web address is;

Oh yeah, the Honda dealer in Olympia had a couple of AC 250's too.

Russrider;
When I got my AC 250 last fall, Paulsons had only new, but the Honda dealer hads a pair of AC 250 2X4's and as that's all I wanted so I bought one of them. Six months later everyone has several. Figures, right? I am however very happy with my Cat, except it seems the wife is now coveting the damn thing. When she wants one of my guns it a done deal, but the Cat is new territory. The upside is if she opts mine I get to replace it, maybe even up greade a bit. I really have no need for more motor, maybe 4X4.

russrider the place in Lacey Wa. (Paulson's) is s good place to look but I know from experience that the price on their machines is the price (either that or the salesman wanted to make a $ instead of getting a sale). I found them not too willing to make any deals. It would be a good place to look though as they do a lot of volume.
If you are going to go to Lacey and you are driving up I-5 from Vancouver you may want to stop in Chehalis Wa. at a little shop called "Industrial Specialties Incorporated" their address is 900 NW State Street. I don't have their phone # handy but they are in the phone book. They sell AC's only and last time I was there had three machines in the 250/300 size some new some used but I don't know what year. If you ask them they might also know of someone who has an AC 300 for sale. They very friendly, ride what they sell, and they have been very good to me. Good enough that I will be going back whenever I need to get another machine.
There is another big AC dealer up un Issaquah, near Seattle but the place in Chehalis made anyone elses prices look overinflated, so I never looked anywhere else.
As was previously mentioned I do not see many AC for sale other than new. Curious thing isn,t it?

I found my used '01 400 2x4 by way of knowing someone. It's always about who you know right? We live in Vegas and don't see many in the paper hardly at all although I noticed one with 5 miles on it for $4500, but it didn't say what it was!! I looked on Ebay A LOT and also atvtrader.com just to get an idea of what things were going for. I bought mine with a little over 200 miles on it for $3000 which I thought was a totally fair price. Mine is in excellent shape are no noticable wear on the tires even so I made out good, I think and I just got it in Feb. of this year. Good luck with the search. Once you get it you'll love it. I am from the Portland area, but was not in the market at the time for AC. Take care
