i ride trails as much as possible the real fun is going where most people try to find a way around instead
i have a buudy in calg who ive been to mclean ck with also been to rocky and mountain aire lodge
where do you like to go ?
so have you gone back to stock weights and do you feel that the new springs and old weights are better
ihave the pink spring and have lost 15 kph top end
i was told the red spring has to high eng for most riders what do you think

i had the red primary spring and the engagement was way too violent for me
not good for slow tech stuff , if you are on hard trails riding fast it would be alright,
but not my kind of riding so i went back to the pink, but i have ordered the red
secondary spring and this holds the belt with twice as much pressure as th black one
that comes in the epi kit. When i put this spring in ,i will then change back to the stock
weights on dalton's advice. you can only try as each person has different expectations.
i go riding usually north west past caroline and the terrian is hilly and lots of mud holes
and muskeg which i find fun, but you can go for days and not cover the same trail and i
like riding where i hunt so as to be familair with the area.
do you ride at all near rosebud on your property or do you go some where else??
what width are your mudlites??

hey droil i just ordered the dynatek cdi for my wheeler you are gonna have to let me know how you like yours and well i put the black secondary spring in my clutch and the belt does still slip a lil bit from time to time which is unacceptable and if they ask you if you have big tires tell them no cause that is none of there business shouldn't slip with bigger tires but i think i burnt my belt to much and i live 40 miles from the factory and everyone should call them up and complain at the factory bout the belt problem they should send all of us brand new belts and new springs to take care of the problem the number to the factory is 218-681-8558 but i deffinately need a new belt on my poor lil cat it has been slipped and fried to many times and i am starting to lose ponies good luck to everyone on this as hopefully this situation will be resolved quickly and to no cost to us

the cat has a tendency to blow fuses when the fan is running and you hit water too fast or it gets too high
i have not experienced this yet, but i put a switch in so i can turn the fan off if the water gets deep thereby saving the fuse and i put in a temp gauge to remind to turn the fan back on or if the fan fails the temp gauge will tell me that.
everyone seems to have a diff opinion about this belt problem and i am on the right track as it slips way less than it did
the stocks weigths have a better ramp design than epi gives you so says dalton and i have ordered the red sec spring as top end does not mean much too me as the trails i ride are still too fast at 30 mph
its hard to get the dealer too tighten the belt as they like to work by the book and i can see their logic if something goes wrong, we did it by the book.

I can change both clutch springs in 20 min......no special tools needed except a quicky secondary spring compressor made with a piece of ready rod stuck in a vice.
I tried the P700 pri, EPI red sec combo and liked it fine. Never burn a belt....BUT.....revs quite a bit all the time so fuel mileage is low. Top speed is at 53 mph as well.
Ran the EPI pink pri, Black sec combo this past weekend. Also never slipped a belt, even riding 2-up most of the time and lots of muskeg. Engine seems more "relaxed" running down the trail with this combo, yet backshifts real fast when power is applied. You can actually get the engine to darn near bog (pull waaaay down)....but not quite...in the deep skeg if you get stuck. I have a Dynatec module coming as well, which is supposed to really pick up the bottom-end power, so I think this spring combo will work awesome then.
The key to not slipping the belt is not so much the spring, but the clutch shiv width. I removed the smaller of the 2 shims in the secondary clutch. The belt is tight enough that when idling in gear it will start to squeal after 5 or 10 seconds, but it never slips.

I'm just south of Red Deer. You don't need to pull the primary clutch off to change the spring. Remove the main bolt (it's reverse thread), then remove the 8 or whatever bolts that hold the top of the clutch on.
For the secondary, you need to remove the clutch. Make a spring compressor.....has to be REAL sturdy for the EPI red sec spring.....to remove the snap ring. The rest figures itself out. To remove a shim, you have to take out the ramps inside the shaft of the clutch, then it will slide apart.
