I don't know what they call it on an ATV,but my rear axles pinion seal seems to be leaking. Put 135 miles on yesterday. When I was cleaning it up today I noticed it today when i started cleaning it up.It is not dripping or wet with oil.Just obvious that there is a leak.Anyone happen to have had this problem.Anyone have an Arctic Cat factory shop manual. Was hoping that this would be something I could do myself. Thanks.

Might want to check and make sure your axle drain nut didn't come lose. Thats what happen to Andy.

I happened to notice yesterday that it appears mine is leaking a little bit also. I've noticed in the past, a lot of grass, weeds and such all wrapped and tangled it that rubber boot. I assume some of it has managed to get in to the seal and cause it to leak a little. I'm sure it's repairable at home, I'm not to overly concerned about it. I'll fix it if it gets worse.

The thing that leaked on mine was the drain for the rear gear housing. I nailed a rock with the drain plug and knocked it loose. That was fixed by just tightening it back, but now I have to watch for high rocks. I don't have any skid plate at all back there so its hanging out in the open.
I'd like to get a hold of the jackass at AC that decided to put the thing out in the open like that. The 2000's aren't as bad, but the older ones hang straight down. Why doesn't anyone make a swingaxle skid plate for an AC yet?

No rear axle skidplate??? I have to take my axle skidplate off to get to the drain plug. A friend of mine has a '98 AC 400 and has a skid plate also!!!! Hhhhmmmmmm!!!

I think Andy wants a Rear swing arm skid, not just a rear Diff skid plate.

I have a skid plate, its in three pieces lying in the corner of the garage! Did you think I was saying that mine didn't come with one or what? I shattered the flimsy thing on a downed telephone pole last fall. I want to find a way to replace that piece of junk with one made out of aluminum. Nothing fancy, just strong.

I don't know about 2000's but the plates on the 99's had a hole cutout to access the drain plug. The 2000 models are different and the drain plug sits higher up.
