Differential question for Cats
#14
Well Andy I have a buddy that tried the brake tapping thing and it ended up costing him two new brake calipers, broke them clean. So beware guys of this brake tapping.
Also I think that the 1999 models front differentials where set a little loser because of the bigger tires they put on those for better steering. I think I read that somewhere. Anyway I was also told that the front diff. can be set too pull more or less with both fronts.

MudCrazy, a question for you. In your future mods list, you listed 27" Vamps or Claws for your 99 300. You also listed a big bore kit though. Even with the bore kit I feel you are going to be sorry you bought such big tires for that size engine. I wouldn't imagine anyone putting anything over 26" on a 300 but thats just me.

Bigbadcat,
I must disagree with you there.
I have a freind who rides a 95 Honda 300 with a cam, Hight Lifter power kit, High lifter lift kit, an ATV locker, 27x9.5x11 Vamps, and 27x12x11 Tri-Claw magnums. He does bog(hopefully his new carb fixes this) down even in first gear but it surprisingly pulls the tires very well for this size of ATV.
AS you probaly know the Honda 300 has a single range tranny while the Arctic Cat 300 has a Triple range transmission. So I think that with a big-bore kit(325cc+) that a 300 Arctic cat could pull these tires fairly well in superlow 1st-2nd gears.
But, this is only my oppinion.

Boner- First of all, do they even make a big bore kit for an AC 300? I don't think so. Maybe they make one for a king quad that you could swap out, but I don't know.
Now the practical thing. Are you just going to ride around in super low all the time? Sure it would pull it, but it would make everyday riding a lot more boring, and it would also put more stress on the engine. I've noticed that my 500 gets hot quicker with the taller heavier tires. If I was going to put tall tires on a 300 class quad, they would have to be Mud Bugs strictly for the less weight. I think that the larger diameter has just as much to do with power loss as the weight factor does myself.
