I've never done anything that made me think it overheated. It just gets warm quicker now. The fan comes on quicker. It used to take a lot of slow riding to get the fan on. Now it comes on a lot more often. The only deduction that I had was that the tires made the engine work a little harder. I don't see any problems at all with it. I just figured that the 300 would have a lot more stress with that tire.

Andy:
Ok, I got ya. Wasn't thinking about your fan kicking in like that. Mine is on all the time the minute you turn the key "on". Doesn't bother me too much, as I'd rather keep it cool, but there are a few times I've wished I had a "off" switch when stuck in the mud. Actually the mud isn't that much of a problem, as it's so thick it just forms a "wall" of thick goo in front of the radiator but the water pools around, then sprays all over everything. Started to make me a little nervous the other day when I had the front end submerged half way up my mortar box-that wasn't fun! Ended up having my buddy tow me out from behind with my dad's 'Cat.

You don't happpen to know the easiest way to install a "fan off" switch do you, or which wire it is? I haven't paid much attention to it yet, but probably should do something about it before elk season starts. It gets pretty nasty-lots of rain, mud and snow so I'd rather be prepared for the worst.

I recently looked into the 2001 Artic Cat 500 Shift model. I LIKE IT... Problem is, when I pinned the dealer down about the front end.. He gave me the "tap the brakes" thing... I'm not into that.. I want 4x4 when I need 4X4... Is there a locker for the 2001 differential.. I KNOW the new Diff is a completely different part, so its probably gonna require a different locker.. Short of that, guess I'll buy a Sportsman 500 H.O.

Does it get you unstuck? Does it pull you on up rutted uneven hills with loose dirt and roots? All the time? Part of the time? Once?

I've never had it do jack for me.

No locker available for any AC yet. I was looking for that myself for a while. No help.

Maybe so, but I've found that I spend all my time on the trails in low-range anyway. If the tires seem to be to much in the mud and muck, then I've still got super-low. Any way, my primarly reason is for better floatation and drive ability in deep water.
