We got about 6-7 inches of snow here in NW Arkansas today, and by god I got to leave work early on account of it. After getting home, I had to play in the snow with the 500. I must say that worn down titan 495's are not the best snow tire for traction in deep snow (as if any wide tire is), but I was happy to be able to do a years worth of donuts in it! My father isn't as happy about the snow though. He was coming down a dirt road (snow road now) on a hairpin curve in a 92 Silverado ext. cab 4x4 and went sideways off the side of the mountain. I went to see the truck (which is obviously still there) and was amazed to see it upside down about 20 ft. down the side of a rocky hill and leaning up against a tree. He wasn't hurt very bad (bruises & cuts) but the truck is close to dead. I figure when they try to tow it out of there, they will tear it all to hell. Its pretty hard just to walk up out of that place let alone tow something out that is upside down. Funny thing though is that he said after it was over, the engine was still running and he had to reach up (he was sitting on the roof of the cab) and turn off the key. Unfortunate, but I will have a mess of fun riding in the snow tomorrow, because there is no way that I am going to try to drive 50 miles of icy bridges to work. Its still coming down fairly hard right now.

You may have had fun, but you had to go to work and all I had to do was stay home and play in the snow. Ha Ha! The 489's worked just fine. I had fun bogging around in the snow and trying to find where exactly the trails went. I plan on heading in to town on it tommorow and see what it looks like on the backroads. It also has ice stuck to it even covered up.

Sorry Frank,

I don't think you will be able to test the 489s, but the 495's on your 500's will probaly get tested.

We must have gotten 8-10 inches of snow in exteme NE Texas. I have never seen it snow this long and this hard. It was blowing horizontally. I was dragging high center a lot of the time. I felt like an icebreaker! My vampires pulled fine, but it felt strange--not like mud feels. And, my wheels, both on the inside of the wheel and oustide of the wheel, was clogged with snow. I didn't run anyone off the road though . Boner says when full-size trucks see an AC coming, they take evasive action! Even plummenting off a mountain.

Boy does my Cat look nasty now. It has ice frozen on the tires from my creek and ice on the bottom of the winch and winch plate and my boot guards are filled up with snow. It's going to be a fun day tommorow.

And here I sit in Iowa with no snow on the ground. We've only had 2 snowfalls, 5" total this year - only used my new blade once. I did pull some friends behind the cat in innertubes - lots of fun.

TxDoc2- I think that we got the same mess of snow that you got. I'm pretty sure it came from your area on up north and then to here. It was really nailing Ft. Smith when Springdale was getting nothing. The further south I went, the worse it got. I bet we have at least 7 maybe 8 inches now, the most snow we've had since 1989-90. I remember it then because I had that "New" Honda out in it every chance I got.

Andy--Believe it or not, Old Washington, AR got 16 inches of snow! That is not far away. I don't think I would be a good Eskimo .
