What are the best tires for the AC650 (05 if it matters)? I'll be using it for plowing snow and riding on our place in VT (mud, rocks, hard-pack, trees). Does the size matter...I don't want steering to be heavy.

Also, what is the best/cheapest place to buy them?

thanks.

Hi. I have MudLites and love them. Most people on here who have them speak fondley of them. I like the tread pattern and they have a 6 ply rating ....and are not as heavy as the other 6 ply's . They are very good all around .

589's might be a good choice for u as they are a mud and snow tire. i have them as a second set and they work great for trail riding that i do in central oklahoma. we dont get much snow here but the reviews are quite good for snow. just my 2 cents and good luck with ur search.

i have 26"mud lites on my honda.
my mud lites have 1500 miles on them and there already starting to show sings of ware.
but i had 28" gators on my cat and they were an awsome tire.
i put 2200 miles on my gators and they hardly had any ware on them.
PS. check out my page i still have a few pics of my 03 cat with the gators on it.
oh ya my freind has a 04 650 and he has 28" dirt devils on his cat and they look sweet on it with those big lugs.
the gators and the dirt devils are a bit more money but there worth it.

Just so I am clear, as I am taking your advice, you mean GBC Gators

I see alot of people selling 589's/489's around winnipeg here, but have not heard too much about gators

Yes, he means GBC Gators. They are an excellent tire. So are the mudlites but the mudlites are soft rubber. If you're riding on dirt roads and mostly hardpack I'd go with the mudlights, if you want to get into some of the tougher stuff I'd go with the gators. 589's are good too for the tough stuff. 489's are out of the question.

how do the dirt devils compare with the mudlites. what kind of riding does each do better in. I looking for new tires for my 03 400. i still cant decide on either of those. im trying to stay away from the 589's unless theres a good reason to look into them.

the mud lites are a very capable mud tire and they are also excalent in the sand and soft terrane.
i have them on my honda and im very happy with them.
but i think they are wareing a bit faster then my gators did.
but other then that i think they work great.
as for the gators i dont think that they can be beat.
and im told that the dirt devils are as good a tire but there not directed towords mud and sloppy stuff like the mud lites and the gators are.
im told that the dirt devils are more for sand and hard pack stuff, and the gators and lites are more of a mud and sloppy stuff tire.
i've had both (gators & mud lites) and im pleased with both of them.
any of the three i think you will be happy with.
one thing though.
the mud lites are are at least 8 to 10 lbs per tire lighter then the gators and dirt devils.
somthing to think about.
my 28" gators were 41lbs each and my 26" mud lites are 27 lbs each.
and im told thet the 28" mud lites are 30 lbs.
thats a big diffarence over the gators and devils.
but if you got the power the weight might make that much of a differance.
my freind has 27" mud lites on his rubicon and i have 26" mud lites on my rubicon.
and mine will beet his in a race every time and it dont bog down like his dose in the sticky stuff.
so be carfull what you buy because once you mount them you cant take them back.
hope this helps.

im pretty much stuck between the dirt devils and the mudlites. i ride some nasty stuff but i also do a lot of trailing riding in soft to hard pack. i want a good handling tire with little sidewall flex. im liking how the mudlites arent as heavy as the gators but i heard they wear faster and dont do as good on the trails.
