snow plows
#11
If you remember good old Pathagoreas from your math class, he would tell you that a 60" plow on a 15 degree angle would plow about 58" wide, on a 30 degree angle would plow about 52" wide or on a 45 degree angle (which I don't think you can achieve) it would plow about 42 1/2" wide.

Thanks for all the info, I think that I will be buying the 60" plow.
Will I be needing the chains? I have 4 - wheel drive. just one more question, does the blade have a problem with floating on top of the snow? or is there enough weight from the blade and frame to keep it down.

Kansascitysam.
you were asking about why everyone was saying 60" insted of 50".
i think it has to do with how wide your quad is my 03 cat was from outside edge of the tire to other outside edge was 52". with the stock tires i think it was 50.
now if you have a 50"plow your quad will be wider then the plow.
and im not sure you want that.
i had the 60" plow on my cat with 28"gators on it and it plowed fine.
now im going to use it on my honda and i think it will be ok also.
i have the cycle country metal plow and aperantly it hooks up a little differant then the cat nylon plow
but i havent seen how the cat one hooks up so im not sure.
but mine hooks up under the running boards and has two little tabs that stick down on each side and the plow gos in between the two tabs. and on the front it just hooks to your winch and thats it.
easy to go on and off.
but the one thing i found with thouse hooks (tabs) under your running seem to take a beating in the summer time i found that out when i whent to hook up the plow to plow my horse corrall out i ended taking them off and fixing them then putting them back on.

i just got a moose setup for my 650LE i bought the 60in blade due to it swipes 52 in when angled. also its a quick disconnect with pins and the mounting plate is small under the quad the cat plow frame runs the entire lenth of the bike i didnt care to much for that but thats just a matter of opinion i guess anyhow after all said and done it cost me 370.00 bucks for everything and a couple hours of assembly

Did you get the County plow or standard? If the county, seems like a really good deal. So far, I've only found the county setup for around $340. If you know a better place, please let me know.
Also, I think you can get a different push tube that allows higher lifting of the blade. Anyone familiar with that on the Moose or Cycle country plows?
