Default anyone else 650 axle problems?

you guys should all find out when your machines were made maybe they did a short run of them like this so the rest of us can find out with ours cause i have launched mine about 3 feet in the air and cracked the throttle before landing and put my axle's through some bad stuff and they are perfect

Gee, now I'm concerned about my axle on my 400(s). I'm sure they're the same parts. Where do I find the part numbers ON the part? Far as I know, the 500's and the 400's are built on the same frames.

The 400,500 and 650 all share the same frame.

Hi articcop:

I had the same problem and was searching the net to see if any one else had. Mine is a 2004 650 w/ about 600 miles. Right rear, no sound, low speed, and not at any great deal of pressure. This could be disasterous if it happened at high speed. Mine is out of warentee and I am looking into whether Arctic Cat is replacing them. The cross section looks just like you describe.

Good riding

And a note for the other readers. I am 230 lbs and the bike has not been babied... however, it broke at a walk in my driveway
Note 2: I have never removed the nut... So it was at factory torque.

Key Words: Broken Axile Artic Cat 650 V2 2004 Broke Snap Faulty (Death at high speed)

Hey robert05arcticcat

Can you send me the name and phone number for the dealer you were working with? I had the same problem, and the dealer here is kind of lame sometimes.

Thanks ahead!

My 04 650 broke the left rear axle at the splines last May. It was at my dealer getting the frame replaced, mechanic was test riding it and the left rear wheel flew off. Dealer pulled an axle off an '05 on his showroom floor to replace it so I could go to Hatfield McCoy.

Yeah I was luck I was getting ready to go up a hill! I have had pretty good luck with the lady at AC customer service named Judy she actaully seemed to care when my dealer was screwing me around.

well it has been about a year since i last posted and many more hard miles put on well 1700 in all and i haven't had a problem even with oversized tires. my atv has been a sexy machine and my next machine will be an arctic cat. and working in a factory i know how they can get in a run of bad parts and some bigger factories will say just run them maybe this is what happened.
