Default Whats in the box??

OK, as some of you know I am new to the Utility ATV scene...

So I just ordered some "trunks" for the Arctic Cat.

This leads me to my question... what do you guys carry in your boxes (or trunks)?

I've got a few things already that I want to throw in there but, I like to hear what others do because there is sure to be that "Oh yeah, that is a good idea but, I would have never thought about it "thing".

i was thinking, are you talking about the box that goes on your back rack or the one that goes under your seat?

redryder1 - either or, both boxes. I was actually thinking more along the lines of the box that you mount to your rack but , I'll take input from either.

WhoDatInDaMud - YOU are a wild man! You could live out of that thing. But, that is exactly the type of list I was looking for. There are a lot of... "What the... oh that is a good idea" on your list.

WhoDat does tend to go overboard, then again the guy that is prepare for anything, rarely has anything happen to him. If it does it ain't no big deal. My list is as follows:

Day trips only

1) tire repair kit includes valve stem tool
2) compressor 12Volt
3) CO2 tire inflator in case the compressor pukes
4) Quart of Slime
5) Tools, Complete set of metric and SAE box and open end wrenches plus Apex screw with tips set pliers set and crescent wrenches
6) 100 feet of woven 5/16 rope
7) 2 ****** block and a clevis for the winch
8) Nylon Tow Strap for wrapping around trees for ****** block
9) Bungee cords
10) Matches in water proof container
11) Folding shovel
12) Shop rags and some small bar towel (lets you clean goggles, face shields etc.)
13) 2 each Ratchet style tie downs
14) Long Breaker bar with socket to match wheel lungs (weak hands and arms since surgery this summer)
14) A quart of water in a plastic bottle
15) First aid kit (fairly complete as I was an EMT and wife is a Para-medic)
16) 15 foot 3/8" plastic coated cable with large pad look (If I have to leave it somewhere it will be there when I get back.)
17) RINO 120 GPS and radio combo with ear buds and lapel mics and a power cord(wired into back of the accessory plug)
18) Cellphone with power cord(it only works of the tops of the mountains around here but will get you 911)
19) Energy Bars(at least a 6 pack if not 2 of the packs)
20) Binocs
21) Range Finder
22) 3" fixed blade knife( itt won't fold up on you)
23) Hatchet
24) T.P. (the most important item)
25) Compass (GPSs can break you know)
26) Spare glasses (be short sighted sucks)
27) Handgun 44 Spl. or 41 Mag (actually the holster is mounted on the inside if my tack bag)
28) Dry socks 2 pair (I get cold feet)
29) Mini Mag Lite
30) 6 spare AA batteries for the mag lite and GPS
31) Folding Bone saw(it will cut branchs off and small trees down)
32) Duct tape (small roll)
33) Black electrical tape
34) Emergency blanket package
35) Hat to keep the sun off my head when not traveling

Overnight or several day trips get insane and is why we now have 2 quads to haul everything.

The list of WhoDatInDaMud or Bear are excellent.

Only thing they left behind was the kitchen sink.....sorry thats there too.

I think the only thing left off was the brain, God gave you between your ears. With it you will hopefully not be encouraged by what you are carrying in any of your boxes to try something stupid.

(speaking from experience there sorry)

Swampyjunior; If I put my brain in the box, then I'd be in big trouble. No loss of room in the box of course, but I would then be a dirt bike rider.

Bear - A question for you. Since both you and your wife were/are involved in the emergency medical field, what "over the counter" or "store bought" First Aid Kit do you recommend? I have a small one but feel like I need more and don't want to "build" my own kit. You probably also have a couple of associated medical items "you won't leave home without." What about those, keeping in mind most of us reading this don't have the experience you and your wife have?

JimJa; I will check with my commander in chief and see what she says and get back to you. All of ours are custom kits to fit our skill levels, but she has real good sources for this kind of thing and I'll get her to ask.
