Default Electrical Probs: New Winch caused Meltdown

Sumdumgi; Damn I like a gut who isn't afraid to kid with his online handle. Anyway the reason I wouldn't (I didn't say you shouldn't) is that all rhe parts in this winch set up are made to operate even at high current. So even if the winch shorts out while you are using it, When you release the switch on the handle bar the solenoid will shut off the power to it anyway. The only un protected part of the system is between the battery positive terminal and the solenoid and at this point I will bet you have carefully routed that wire so it will not rub on anything. Like I said, get a 100 amp fuse, or better yet a C/B and hook it to the positive terminal of the battery and the wire to the solenoid, It woun't hurt anything, but if you noticed the manufacture didn't include one in the kit. So my thinking is why spend the money and time. I didn't but, this one is your bike and you need to do what makes you feel comfortable with the setup.

Thanks Sysdrake I will check it to be sure.

Bear I figured a long time ago that there were many people much smarter than I and I kinda liked the name. And in this case it fit perfectly!
Take care and thanks again for all the help.
