Default Clutch springs question

If I replace the primary and driven springs at the same time will my belt (in theory) get tighter or looser?

Default Clutch springs question

every 650 should in my book have the pink primary and black secondary springs put in plus take out the .08 mm shim off of the secondary clutch this will tighten it up and in theory make the belt tention to where it is supposed to be. alot of people notice a lil squeal coming from there clutch when it is idling in gear, i never noticed it but to test it out with my old belt coming up a ditch about 45 degrees i had it in high range and kicked it down and it didn't slip the belt. but if you have stock tires on yours and don't have any problem burning the belt then just make sure you use low range as much as possible and you should be fine.

Default Clutch springs question

well after I changed both springs, (pink and black are on there now) the belt was really loose, I put it all back together and it moves forward and back (in a garage and too late to run it) but I think I have to remove the shim. I thought that the belt would get tighter so I didn't think about removing the shim until I had it all back together...live and learn I guess I see your from MN, how does your 650 start in the cold?

Default Clutch springs question

actually hello i took out the bigger of the thicker of the 2 shims and it seems to be very decent wiht the larger tires on it and well cold starting last time i had it started it was about 20 above here and it had been sitting for about a month and it turned over about 4 times and popped right off and started and ran great but lately it has been between 0 and -40 here so not much wheeling going on right now and i dunno bout the brute force alpha but i have no regrets on getting my wheeler if there was one thing i could change would be the tranny and clutch setup which is the same on the bf and the msrp on the 04 650 was 7300 and i got mine for 6800 with warn winch hand guards and the standard 2 year warranty
