I've been looking for some good tires for deep snow thinking about MUDDLITE'S but a friend said they dig to quick. Also thinking about BEARCLAWS. Any suggestions on some good tires? I'am running badland tires that came with bike.

 

I have Bearclaws, they're very good in the snow. I run 'em flat in the winter, the sidewalls are enough to keep them up off the rims. They give superb flotation over the snow, wear like iron , and are a good all around tire. They're cheap too[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

Bluethumb did you loose power with the 27" tires? Do the bearclaws ride ruff in summer and how are they for steering? Looks like we are in for a blizzard tonite I've got my plow ready!!

 

Snow comes in so many variables that a single tire being "best" is difficult. Sloppy wet snow, hard packed snow, deep snow, dry light snow-
My best guess is a non-aggressive tread that doesn't tractor scoop and dig in.

 

The bearclaws are a good snow tire and they ride good all year round.

My weather dude said 16" of snow getting blown around by 100kph winds.

A buddy is running 26" mud lites on his rubicon and they work very well in the snow.

i had gators on my 03 500 cat and they were an awsome tire in the snow.
i have mud lites on my honda and i like them too.
but i think the gators were better.
i was out riding with a bunch of guys yesterday and 2 guys had mud bugs and they were saying that they worked great in the snow also.

I have never been down to the Valley on my bike,I would like to get down to the run in Aylesford sometime though.

 

I didn't find too much of a difference with the 27's. I was going to get 26", but they were actually heavier than the 27's, figure that one out. I have the ACT rear end in mine, which is sort of a straight axle, and doesn't really rob the power like an IRS would. I can get 54 mph out of it on top end. I did notice that I have to use a little more throttle to get them rolling, but not as bad as you'd expect. As far as handling, they're a 110% improvement over stock. They aren't rounded like mudlights or the stock Dunlops, so they don't roll over in the corners. That's the biggest reason I went to them. I only had 425 miles on the stockers and couldn't handle them anymore. In the summer, they're a really good riding tire. I have 10" on the front, 12" on the rear, and I NEVER hit my rims like I did before. I run about 5 psi in the summer, I find that if I run less than that, it takes a lot more to turn them.
They're saying 35-45cm tonight, well, it's 10pm now and not so much as a flake around here. I was hopin' to get outa work tomorrow[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]
