Does anyone out there own one of these machines? If so what can you tell me about it. A friend of mine is thinking about purchasing one, he will use it for mostly trail riding with him and his dad, they will be using it for hunting and fishing, and they are both around 200 lbs and on a fixed budget and know where they can get one that is in really good shape and for a good price.

 

I'll tell you this much, depending on what kind of price he can get, there are much better ways to spend your money. Even if he is paying around $2500 for this, I would look into other options. The old orange 2wd 454 is not much other than a decent engine in probably the ugliest bodies around. Bad steering and carb troubles also plague this model, along with a sorry foot actuated parking brake. I wouldn't reccomend it. A 1998 model of the same sort would make a landslide of difference though. Many improvements, the best being that they got rid of that ugly looking orange and made it look like the 2wd version.

This is probably a pretty shared opinion by several others. I really don't know of anyone here that would reccomend this to you.

 

I agree, I would classifi it in the top 10 worst atv'S EVER!!!!! Ugly as sin(not that arctic cats are normally good lookers), pathitic parking brake, tiny front gril and rack, and a single range tranny.

Now that I have some backup here, it just plain sucks. I say top 3 worst quads ever. Right there with the Yamaha Terrapro and the Honda 200 with the trunk. Polaris Diesel would be there if it didn't have the sportsman body.
