belt slipping after installing springs?
just put my black secondary and pink primary in and it feels like the belt is slipping. i took out the large shim so that should have tightened my belt, right? it does not seem to have the power that it had before. is it possible i got grease on pulleys and that is causing slippage. please help asap. thanks

it is possible you got grease on it and that would deffinately make it slip. did you use any wd-40 or anything when you were tinkering with the clutches? and it could be also that your belt is fried i know i had a burnt belt and i lost alot of power and it was stretched out. you might need to check your belt deflection. what is is again between 40-44 mm??? i am not for sure i guess on the deflection i put the springs in took out the larger shim and it is very good and tight now.

JollyGreenGiant - You need to check belt width and deflection.
Deflection should be between 22-27mm (.87-1.06in) I would recommend 23mm if your springs are EPI black and pink. Minimum belt width should be 28.8mm (1.13in). Make sure you keep same belt direction. As far as shims, depends what was in stock and belt wear. Only use a small amount of grease when re-installing line up dowels in the secondary, everything else should be clean as a whistle.
Check out the following website if you don't have access to an AC service manual. http://atv.dnsalias.com/
I have the same set up and my belt is as snug as a bug in the rug and the power transmission is sick.
Good Luck!
