accessory plugs
#1
This may have been brought up in the past, but on the off chance-
I've been looking for plugs to fit the accessory outlets on my wiring harness... don't have a dealership/parts place close by, and didn't feel like paying 6 to 8 bucks (plus shipping) to get it online (I'm frugal that way ) The closest Ive come is the flat 4 wire connectors usually used for trailer lights. The other night I'm at walmart looking for an extension setup to plug into the outlet on the instrument pod so I can temporarily get 12v to the rear (I run a yellow flasher on the rear when I plow, almost been hit twice now while clearing around my mailbox ) , and I came across a neat little item.
For $3.47 I found an accessory chord with the two pin flat connector on one end and an accessory outlet (cigarette lighter outlet) on the other, with about 10" of wire between. It's meant to allow you to plug it into the 4 wire trailer light plug at the rear of your car or truck to use spotlights, air compressors, etc. The outlet has a cover on it for when your not using it to keep the junk out. I just plugged it in and tie wrapped the outlet to the frame up high out of harms way.
This solved my immediate problem, but for short money I'm gonna buy a couple more and cut the outlet portion off to just use the plugs for my other plug in toys...
Sorry so long, but I hope this helps my fellow cheapskates

I did the same thing yesterday Mike .After talking to you Saturday night, I went straight to Wal-mart Sunday morn ,got the lights and the plug .
I mounted the lights above the stop light, on a bracket I made at work out of some flat stalk and bolted that to the bottom of the rear rack .
I tried them out tonight and thay are awesome ,They look great !!
I wired them up temporarily to the headlamp fuse on the power side with the head lamps on ,I had to use a separate 10A fuse and mounted the switch that came with the lights (just the center of the switch not the mounting bracket) to the vent tube with a zip tie of now ,I was thinking of using a marina switch up on the instrument cluster ,something water proof .
They will only turn on when the head lamps are on only.
Sorry for steeling your Idea but after seeing how awesome your set up looked I had to do the same .
Thanks MB

You know I found exactly the same thing a few weeks ago. I already have a 2-flat pigtail (direct from the battery via a fuse) run to the front rack. I have a couple of auto fog lights set up on a 2X4 that I bolt to my front rack. I power them via the 2-flat. I picked up the pigtail you mentioned incase I needed an additional accessory plug.
That reminds me, I never hooked it up and put a meter on it to make sure + is where + should be since I wired the origional pigtail to meet "MY" needs. Need to check that.
