i was looking at getting the dirt devils but now have looked at the gators. i was just wondering how they do on the trails, hard pack. i know they are a mud tire and will help out my 400 make up traction instead of the crappy dunlops, but i ride alot of trail but also hit the mud too. i was just wondering if theyll work well for both or should i stick with the dirt devils. i need a heavy duty tire that wont get flat b/c i run in some pretty nasty areas. ive heard mudlites get flats alot and cant have that.

Ever heard of Slime? Use it and if you get a flat tire after that you deserved it.

the gators are a way better tire then the dirt devils hands down.
like GBCs add says they will get you through anything you throw at them.
i loved the ones i had.
and my next set i buy will be eather the gatords or the mud bugs.
the bugs are a softer compound tire so they will ware a little faster but there just as good and ride smoother and they dont cost as much.
dont get me wrong the dirt devils are a good tire but the gators and bugs are better.
i have a few friends who have mudbugs on there quads and i have bin out with them quite a bit latly and i have seen them in action and i have bin very impressed with them.
and i know the gators are a sweet tire because i had them on my 03 500 cat and they kicked but.
and i also put 2600 miles on my cat and over 2000 were with the gators and they still looked like new.
the gators weigh more then the mud bugs and cost more but they will also last longer.
but you cant beet the price of the bugs and there just as good as the gators.
and with the money you save with the mud bugs you can get a set of hand and thumb warmers
for the colder wether.

Either of them will do well, I think the DD are a better hardpack trail tire tough. The mud lites are a very good tire too, I've had no puncture to mine, did have a slow bead leak on one that happened twice.

sorry bear, i guess after 3 years and over 600 miles the 400 deserved a flat right?? I dont think slime will fix a half inch tear through the lugs of the tire if a hot patch on the inside and 3 cans of fix a flat didnt work. sorry but were u being sarcastic, im sorry but i guess being a lil slow i cant pick that up. ive found both tires the dirt devils and gator for around the same price 54 for front and 58 for rear the sizes are 26x10x12 and 26x12x12 for both types of tire.

Slime claims it will seal up to 1/4" holes. Never seen one that big but you realize that if you make it someone will find a way to defeat it, no matter how good your product is or how hard you try to make it perfect. Yes, I can be a bit sarcastic but then again noyhing verntured, nothing gained.

the thing is, im not into the big mud holes, but when i see em' i hit em'. i need more of a trail tire that can handle well, but also to have good traction for when i do hit the mud. id say about 75 percent trail then 25 percent mud is what i do. i also need a heavy duty tire b/c some places i ride at are pretty nasty, like the flat i got, then a guy tore his sidewall about 5 inches of it.

Gators or Bugs are obviously a better tire in the mud, but I guarantee not near as good in the trails. No mud tire with lateral traction bars is going to perform as good in dirt as something with multiple small lugs.

I can take mine up a dry dirt hill with stock dunfloppers and do better than I can with 27" Claws any day of the week. Just boils down to what the tires are designed for. If you want a good in between tire, something like a 589 tread pattern is probably more to the liking.
