I want to pickup a half decent quad, and I am looking at a 02 500I Auto cat 4wd for 3500.00 .. I have seen some 400 Kodiaks in the same year and price range. I have heard that the cats are a tad on the slower side. This is not a huge problem,but I want to get the best bang for my buck. This is my 1st wheeler,so I have very little experience. Would the 03 cats be stronger than the 02s. And,are the 01-02 kodiaks as strong as a 04. Ride them both and see what fits and feels best to you.........if it doesn't fit, you will quit.
There is a huge frame size and weight difference between these two quads.

 

Yeah,what he said.The kodiak is more sporty but the cat is a better mudder and rough trail machine and will do more IMO,I had a 400 kodiak and it was a great bike but the cat is a better machine for what I want.
