Default 2004 650 clutch modification help

I been reading this forum for a long time, trying to figure out what color spring to install in my bike. Well i finally went with a black secondary and the stock primary. The spring is working just fine lot of low end power but i lost about 8km on the top end. What can i do to get it back??? Went i said the spring is working just fine, well lasts weekend i almost flip the bike right over, the hitch made contact with the ground and finally after about 20 feet the beast came back down on all four, by then my heart beat was about 200. So guy's what can I do to get my top end speed back??

Default 2004 650 clutch modification help

limrok, the only reason i change my spring is because last winter i put 27 inch mud lite on the bike and in deep wet snow i smoke my belt twice in the same day. I replaced the belt after 6500km and according to my dealer the belt was still fine but i just wanted it to make sure i don't burn the belt for nothing they are $160. I read a lot about those spring but their is so many forum with different color combination that i didn't know what to go with so i put the black one in the front and left the stock one in the back. For the summer i put my original tire back on but to my suprise i lost a lot of speed and i would like to get it back.

Yo will either need to go to a softer secondary spring or leave the black one on and go with our purple or green spring.

Speedwerk, i think i got this all wrong, the black spring that i installed is on the primary clutch and not the secondary(the front pulley) so now i need to know what to install on the back one(rear pulley)
What exactly will a softer secondary spring do, is my belt going to ride higher, i think this is what i need to get my speed back so what color should i go with.
oh ya the black spring came from EPI if it make a difference.

Slowcat, if you have a black spring from EPI it would be in the secondary.
Speedwerx - if Slowcat does does have an overly stiff secondary spring that keeps the secondary clutch from fully opening, how does your purple or green primary spring compensate for it?

Slowcat, 6500km from a belt is excellent wear. How did you get it to last so long. BTW - does your machine ever get a chance to cool off? LOL.
