NAPA PN for AC body and fender Rivets and rivet gun
#1
Just some info for those that may want it.
I have on 01 400 with the fender extensions that attach via plastic rivet. I have noticed these rivets are used on several sizes and years. Well, it seems that every ride or so I end up poping one of them out. Brushing a tree, branch, etc.... I had been getting them from the dealer and borrowing his plastic rivet setter. (Nice folks at my dealership). I decided to do a search for the rivet setter (gun) so that I could have one myself to throw in the tool box along with some spare rivets. Found the exact setter the dealer uses at NAPA.

I noticed they also cary plastic rivets as they are common body part fasteners. After some hunting around through their books I found the same size used by AC. That NAPA PN is 770-2871. Its a box of 20 for around $6. This partiular PN has a rather flat head with a bevel. I have gotten this style from AC before, in and AC bag. AC has also supplied me a rivet of the same diameter but with a thinner rounded head. One way or another the important dimensions are the same.
Hope it helps someone.

Thanks, I am in the process of adding the fender fares for a 2001 300 to the wife's 2001 250. You can pull the rivets by hand, but it is a major pain and the rivets aren't cheap when you screw one up either.

Not a problem. Glad to help. When ever I come across little helpful bits of info I like to post them for that very reason.
BTW, on the rivet gun. I have set them by hand before. I want to say I used like a 10 or 9 mm wrench around the mandrel (pin coming out of the rivet head) and a pair of pliers to pull it. HUGE difference with the right tool. Easier, faster, and man are the rivets mich tighter. Just a thought, good luck!!!
