I have a 97 Bearcat 454 4x4. Went to put it in reverse last night and the linkgage won't budge. I even tried taking the cable off and I can't move the shifter by hand. Seems to be binding inside. I tried engaging while rolling backwards on a hill and still nothing. Any suggestions before I rip the trans apart (ugh). Thanks

 

Is there any sort of reverse lockout procedure? Does it have to be in Neutral or do you have to have the brake fully engaged before it'll let you in Reverse? If it has any sort of lockout look at that to see if it's failing. For instance if it's a switch on the brake it may have failed.
