Help,,Confused, I need brake shoes
#1
I picked up a 03 Auto 500 4wd Cat,and I need back brakes. The brake is controlled by the foot brake, and I assume from the hand brake. The problem is, the brakes are different from the ones on the front, but most of the parts( Dennis Kirk, JR Graham) books list the front brake number the same as the rear. I know that these pads look a lot different. I want to buy them from Dennis Kirk, because I need to order parts for a 3 wheeler rebuild that I am doing. Thanks for any info.

The rear pads are the same as the fronts,at least the one that is run by the hand lever. The one on the foot brake is different,I have a '04 650 and this is just a boot scraper so I haven't needed pads for it yet.

The back brake is a single rotor with dual calipers. One operated by the hand lever and the other is operated by the foot pedal, either with a cable or with hydraulics. My 2001 has a cable and my 2005 has hydraulics. There are two sets of pads on the rear and the hand brake one is the same as the front pads.
