Default 400 auto speed?

Just wondering what the top speed of you others guys with 400 autos is? I cant hardly get mine over 30mph, and it seems to be hesitating a little on the top end, but it never has really seemed real strong on the top end. No mods no nothing has about 300 miles on it now, so I figure it should be getting broke in. Is mine slow or what?

At less than 100 miles my '05 400 would get to 50 mph on the bikes speedo. There is something major wrong with your bike.

This may sound stupid and/or very obvious but are you sure your not in low range ? I know my 400 aswell as my friends both had finicky (sp)?? shift linkage in the first few 100 miles . Even still sometimes when I shift from low to high the shifter goes into the right position easily but the tranny stays in low for a few seconds after or until I put it in neutral . Yours could just be a little worse than most and it is not coming out of low at all , even though the shifter says it's in high . Might be worth a trip to the dealer ? is it still on warranty ?

When you romp the throttle in 1st gear does the front end want to or actually does leave the ground and your engine goes in to major missing as you hit the rev limiter at about 4mph and power shift into 2nd and the front tire leave the ground, then you be in low range. Otherwise you have a real sick puppy.

its an auto, and i am sure its not in low range, took it to the dealer today and they said it should be pushing 50 easy, told them the only time its ever got close was in the back of the truck. They said something was wrong with it but not what. I have a twin to this machine and its the same way and they said something is wrong with both of them. I bought them new from this dealer, they said they might have come out of the factory with a foul up of some sort. I dont know we will see what they can find.

They wont hit 50 easily, it takes a bit to get there, I have hit 53-54 somewhere in there but the little engine is screaming when you get there, cant be good for it I wouldnt think, I usually cruise arround 30-40 on roads and a lot slower on trails.

took it to the dealer today he said he got it to about 45 on the pavement by the speedo, we know thats wrong, but anyway he said there was definately something wrong, he could feel the hesitating and cutting out at the top end, he said it felt like it wasnt getting enough fuel when wide open.

Got it back from the dealer yesterday, they said it was way too rich with a 150 main jet, switched one or two sizes smaller and its a whole new machine. Got up to 52 by the speedo last night. Hasnt run this good since it was new. Got the other one in the shop today hopefully it is the same simple problem.
