I get 54mph out of my 400irs 4x4. I also run 9lbs tire pressure in the front and 6lbs in the rear. Can get 50mph with wife on the back. Have lumps on the back of my head to prove it too.

Tried mine yesterday on pavement, I got 54 mph, indicated by speedo. I know that has to be wrong, because I'm running 27" tires. And you're right, it was screamin', but I never hit the rev limiter. I don't know if it even has one.

I also get around 54, 55mph out of my 400 and the cat is screaming hard scared to holder any longer....My friend has an 02 400ac with the liquid cooled engine and he gets about 50mph....1600miles on 02 1800miles on 04..These cats must not have rev-limiters..

Just not enough horsepower in the 400 engine to make a large, heavy machine rev against the rev limiter in 5th gear. Try going as fast as you can in 1st, 2nd or 3rd and if you have a strong engine 4th. You will feel the rev limiter.

So if mine is only going about 42 or so I should have hit looked at? I don't feel much hesitation, but that is the top that it will go. I am at a high altitude about 2400 ft.

There is no way that 2400 feet is loosing you 8 to 10 mph. Somethings is not right. I lost about 5 mph when I took my 400 to 5000 feet. I ride from sea level to 3500 feet regularly and never see that kinda of lose.
