Default Engine?

Ok guys i tried the search function and didnt find the answer. So who makes the engine for Arctic Cat? I read alot of forums an have seen both suzuki and kawasaki make there motors. So which is it if any? Thank you answering the noob q.

Both. Suzuki makes all motors for AC except the 2006 250's. Those are made by some jap company. the 650 V2 is the only Kawasaki engine cat uses. And cat makes their own engine for the 650 H1.

Thank you thank you thank you. Wow both....lol. So now another q, is either the suz or kaw motor better than the other? I had a prarie with the kaw motor and it was really sweet, never used a drop of oil ever. But i didnt like the 3 wheel drive so i sold it. Thank again.

ive never heard anything bad about either engines. just the broken frames on the kawi 650's. and if it matters to you i think the suzuki motors hold about 1 quart more oil. both are good strong motors from what i can see.

Ahh i see, thank you mudslinger. Hmm, holding more oil might help the engine, it very well could be a decision maker or breaker. Thank you..

your welcome kamots. i think the kawi holds 2.2 quart, and suzuki holds 3.5 quarts. may want to double check or if someone can correct me if im wrong.

The 400 and 500 are oil/air cooled and carry more oil for that reason. The 650 is "water" cooled, so the oil isn't having the extra duty of engine cooling.

Ahh that explains why they hold more oil, heh i shoulda thought of that..Thank you Bear4570, BTW is the 4570 part your favourite calibre? I've always wanted to add one to my collection.

my 2002 500I is water cool and still takes 3.5 quarts of oil.
