I stopped at the local dealer here in Utah a few days ago and the asking price for a 500 manual LE Hunter edition was $6100.00 ( 500 manual shift, Warn 2000 installed, camo cover, rear rack bag, Kolpin gun boot. ) The 500 Auto decked out the same way was $6400.00. A stock, manual shift 500 is $5700.00 and the stock auto is $5900.00. Sure seems like a lot of machine and accessories for the money compared to other brands ( $6900.00 for a Rubicon or Sportsman 500. ) These prices are before taxes and registration. Do you think if I went in with cash in hand that they might knock even more off the asking price?

I've never purchased a brand new ATV before. Do the dealers have a price structure that allows them to dicker like car dealers or is the demand high enough that they usually get the asking price?

One other question I have, that I may have to ask the dealer for clarification is; with the LE hunter edition do they offer the 2 year extended service contract as part of the promotion they have running, where you can get a camo cover or Warn winch or a 2 year extended service contract for $69.00. I'm not sure how they would handle this because the LE Hunter edition already comes with the winch and camo as part of the package. Thanks for any info.

Atv dealers are setup like car dealers. The prices you gave seem very reasonable. Since the demand is so high for the hondas and polaris's, there dealers alott of times wont dicker in the price. Well atleast thats how it is in my area. once an awhile you find a good dealer but they are few and far between. I myself, am a cat owner. i found I could get a great machine for thousands less then what the polaris or honda dealers wanted for a comparable machine. And I have not regreted my desicion yet. well what ever you choose hope you have fun with it

I recently purchsed an 2001 500 Auto LE.
dealer was asking $6700.00. I was able to dicker
down to $6250.00, they seemed willing to deal on
them beacause hunting season was on already.
The dealer said the LE modles didn't qualify for the specials, because they are excluded by artic cat.

Manual is around $5800. Automatic is about $200 more. Sometimes they are a bit lower, depending on sales probably.

I also noticed some dealers advertising the following.

$5999 (All 2000 models)
SP500
Kodiak 400 4x4
Bombardier Traxter
Bombardier DS650

$4999 (At the same dealer)
Wolverine 4x4
Big Bear 4x4
Rancher 4x4
Expedition 4x4
Explorer 400 4x4

Another dealer advertising 2000 SP500 for $5799 with a free winch or a Explorer 400 4x4 for $4899 with a free gun case.

SPORTSMAN500, I was hunting deer up Salina canyon on the Blackpowder hunt. While there, I heard an advertisement on the radio from the Tack Shak in Richfield. They advertised AC 500 autos at $5650.00, I called them and the price was for 2000 models. The price for a 2001 auto was $5995.00, I didn't think to ask them the price for the 2001 LE hunter edition. If I buy a new machine it's going to be a 2001 LE hunter because of the upgrades and the changes made over the 2000 models. I believe the 2001's have a better 4wd system, switchable 2wd/4wd, larger fuel tank, ect.. Also the LE package seems like a good deal for the money. It includes a winch, gun boot, rack bag and a camo fender cover for $6100.00 manual or $6395.00 auto. The prices you listed above are probably from Steadmans in Tooele, right? At this point in time I'm only interested in Arctic Cat but I appreciate the info.

Bye the way, I saw alot of young bucks but nothing worth shooting. Any word on how the rifle hunters did?

My local dealer sells the 2001 500 gear for $5795 and the auto for $5995, plus tax, FOB Hesston KS. His phone number is (316)327-5001.
I have my 99 500 4 sale at $5195. It has an on road title (street legal), Warn 2000 lb. winch, ElectriXshift kit, Tamarack wraparound rear box (that is where the turn signals & brake lights are mounted. I am going to move up to a 2001. I will probably go with the auto this time, I really like my wife's but can seldom talk her out of switching. Paying for a bingo game is the only way. If anyone is interested Email me at br549@ourtownusa.net.
