Buying new Cat
#1
Looking to buy a new Cat. Looking at 400 and 500, both manual and auto. Both 2005 and 2006. I have found 2005, 400's both manual and auto, for $5k and 500 auto for $6k and 2006's, 400's for $5.6K and $5.9k with 500's $6.4 and $6.5. The differences that I have found between 05's and 06's are the digital vs analog speedo and 2 and 3 yr warrenty. After reading this forum, I know that there is loads of very informed folks out there that might let me pick their brains. I have 2 questions, are there additional differences between the 05 and 06 models and are these good prices for western Oregon. Thanks in advance

For the price the biggest difference is the warranty. SOme people like the the 05 speedo more than the 06. thats just prefereance. The springs are looser in 06 but are adjustable like the 05. Again thats just preference. I have the 05 500 manual and i stiffened the front shocks because its to soft at stock IMO. both are great choices but personaly i would get the 05 and save the 500 bucks and go get some new tires and maybe a cargo box or winch. the tires a must because the stock ones suck. Good traction but puncture real easy.

04Bowtie and Hoopie, thanks for the responses. Finally got to a dealer today, none locally, and found out, at least they said, that one of the biggest differences between 05 and 06 is that the 400 has the same frame as the rest now. Evidenced by the same gas tank I guess. Don't know whether this is good or bad, but? I think the 06 400 either manual or auto is ahead. 0/0/0 6mts, 3 yr warrenty and $69 Warn through the end of the month looks pretty good. Thanks again!
