I am not an AC owner, but I found this information and thought I would pass it on. Hope it has not been discussed already.

The new AC250 4x4 is full-time FWD . . . it cant shift into 2x4, but the AC300 4x4 is shiftable into 2x4. According to what I have read the 250 uses the same front differential as the 300 . . . you get where I'm going. It is possible to buy the "linkages" for the 300 and put them on the 250 thereby making it a shiftable 2x4 to 4x4.

I beleive it is. I've already thought of this and am planning to make it 2/3/4 wd just like the 300.
Show the dealer the parts you want to order on the 300 (for demo purposes) and adapt it to the 250..JC

Are you saying that to get the AC300 to be 2wd, 3wd, and 4wd all you have to do is adjust the linkages? It does not come from the factory with this already done?

Arctic Cat has JUST come out with a kit that will supply all the shift linkage parts that the 2001 300 4x4 has for the 250 4x4. The letter from A/C hit the dealers desks the end of last week. It retails for $59.95, but will only use two of the three positions on the front differential.

Does any one know if Arctic Cat is using Suzuki's King Quad front differential on their 300? I know the engine is Suzuki's so maybe the front is too? That would explain the three positions on the Arctic Cats differential.

Yes, the front diff is from the King Quad and has the locker position also.

I'm still trying to find out if the diff used on the AC 500 has the 3 positions like the 300 front diff. I hear a lot about the 500 diff locking itself after spinning a few seconds, and thats good, but a lock position would be better for some situations. Ony one know for sure?

It has 2 positions only, not 3.

Boner,

Have you (or anyone) actually pulled off the linkage on the front diff and moved the star nut
up and down. I've a hunch that this diff is the same as the 300 therby offering 3 positions
