TRV 500 no front wheel locker wondering why ??
QUOTE*** wouldn't mind a 800cc machine but not a bomber. Why they made a two up machine 2 inches narrower then the other 2ups (AC and Polaris) when we pretty much all agree that wider is better I cant even begin to explain END OF QUOTE***
For MY riding style and the tight and twisty trails we have in Michigan, wider is not better. And the Polaris ATVs are completely out of the question for me because of the extra weight of them versus anything else in its same class. And quite frankly, the A/C TRV has NEVER appealed to me in the least bit. To be honest,I've been ''eyeing'' the 2-seaters for 3-4 years and until the new 800 Bomb, there was absolutely NOTHING that even remotely caught my eye in the 2-up line up.
I never keep stock tires on ANY 4x4 I have ever owned. They are all junk IMO..With this in mind,I knew when I ordered the BRP 800,that I was going to install the new XTR 27 inch radials..I did NOT plan on changing the factory rims, but when the ATV was finally delieverd, the stock rims were so darn UGLY, I decided to buy the ITP C-7 series rims to compliment the XTR tires..This made my ATV 50 1/2 inches wide. I dont care for this extra 4 inches of width in the least bit and am contiplating having the stock rims powdercoated and finished in red to bring me back to 47 inches in width.
Wider is not for everyones riding style, including mine. The factory 46 inch width that comes with the Bomb 800,really complimented the 50 inch trails we have here in Michigan much better than a 50 inch stance does IMO.

I've loked into this problem and think buying a new diff w/locker and cable for 1200.00 canadian isn't bad (from a regular 500...). But I just found that some newer 650 come w/4.10:1 (stock is 3.6:1) gear diff's so if I'm going to that work why not change out both diff's. More gear means bigger tire and a set of 28 mudzilla would be on order.
A cheaper fix would be to install a line loc system. One like racecar drivers use. Install one on each front brake line to caliper delivery. When you're stuck and that wheel in the air is spinning. Just turn a switch to the side that's not spinning and apply the brake stopping the wheel that spin's transfer the power to the wheel that's stuck. Just remember to turn switch back off or you're brake hard to one side only. A diff assembly is a power divider and will supply power to the wheel that is the easiest to turn, so stopping that wheel will allow the other to get traction. I' was thinking of doing this but I do too much mudding. 14 inch of ground clearance means one big hole and alot of trouble. Go big or get stuck trying. My last off road toy was a 38 inch tire mud bogger with 12 inch of lift jeep yj. But this fourwheeler thing is the best.
