NEW TRV

Yes, I just picked up my 05 500 TRV, and I love it. I took my 9 year old out on it for about 2 hours today. There would be no way to do this any other way. I ran through some 6 inches of frozen snow and it kicked on the fan for a while but everything seems fine. I will keep you posted on how it all goes.

Enjoy your new family investment!!! I looked real hard at the AC trv, all those neat accessories and cool things. I am waiting for a Polaris X2 to show up the first of next week.
I really could not say which machine is better, both have excellent ideas. I do like the way the AC rear seat elevates the passenger for better viewing. Enjoy you Cat. I will report on the X2 asap, Happy New Year. jlewis

Welcome to the club of TRV owners Chris -
That fan coming on is normal. It is not a overheat - the coolant has just reached operating temperature - about 190 degrees if I recal the set point correctly.
I added heated grips and thumbwarmer for winter riding. Also added a "cruiser" motorcycle windshield as a standard ATV windshield is not only a cheap POS but also interferes if you have the front box on. The coolant heater is a nice add-on also - plugged in for couple of hours and you don't even use the choke to start it when its 20 below.
You may or may not have located the carb primer - I think the 05's still have that. You will want to become familiar with that little gadget as its possibly the best cold winter starting trick I've seen on any ATV.
Post back any questions.
Congratulations on your new TRV - Your family is going to love it.

Hey Muddyguy, I also looked carefully at the Bomb 800. Impressive and strong. If money was less tight it might be my first pick. I really like the features on the Max ex but where I live the price is $ 10,300. maybe another time. Happy Trails, jlewis

Jeff,
I sure cant argue with you there, they [800 Bombardier] are very expensive. But I dont drink, dont do drugs,[cuss a LITTLE once in a while] and its my favorite past time. So THIS TIME,I did'nt allow MONEY to get in my way.
You'll have a great time on ANY of them brother, buy the one that suits YOUR needs the best.
Happy New Year to all!

I like your choice of words, Mudbill. Having fun and family enjoyment is paramount to any purchases I make. My wife is from Europe and new to atv's. She drove my daughters Recon a little bit down in Ariz. She had a ball. Very wide open spaces. I hope with a two-up I can take her to places and teach her, safely, about atving. The two-up will also allow me to sit behind her and coach her through techinal driving as this allows hands on training. You are right brother, Have fun and enjoy what the Lord has allowed us to partake in. Be safe and be back safe.jlewis

Well this has to be one of the best things since sliced bread. I put on 260+ miles in two days of driving. What a blast. Although I did manage to hang it up and let me tell you this thing is like trying to move a dead cow when its stuck. Me and a buddy took twenty minutes of snow moving and lifting to get it unstuck. His polaris did not even budge it. But what a blast. I went through things his 4x could not even enter. I broke it in very nicely and have noticed that the fuel milage has increased with each tank. I even took my wife on a 60 mile dinner on new years eve. will keep you posted.

A Polaris 4x4 could'nt get your TRV unstuck?
Thats very strange, the Polaris 4x4 should almost been able to pull you up a mountainside even if you are own a TRV.
Are you folks both NEW to the sport of ORVing?

i got my trv stuck once and what a chore it is to get it out by yourself they are heavy and if it is stuck bad no atv is big enough to get it out but i do love the trv and last week my kids and i only put 20 miles on them but it was going over sage brush taller then us and up some deer trails that required some rock climing my 14 year old did scare me a couple of times but handled the bike great.
