Default Rear mounted winch.

I am picking up my 06 Arctic cat on Monday and was wondering if any one has a winch on the back of one? I got it with one on the front but would like to also have one on the back just in case. I saw a master lock winch at walmart and thought about using that because it seems very simple to install and take off but im worryed about how long that winch would last with the use of an atv would I be better off buying a super winch or a Gorilla winch off of ebay? I appericate any help.

Muddedprairie, The trouble with that your setup is the newer models have dry storage in that area now. I would hate to give dry storage for any reason. GmManDan, Have you caoncidered a hitch mounted winch that comes off when not in use? Say like this one:

For power use the connectors like are used for extending welding cables.

I have considered a winch like that they have the same one at walmart for $69.99 it is master lock brand but I am worryed about it getting wet or the longeievity it. I browsed around at arcticchat last night I will look again once I pick my fourwheeler up this morning and break it in.

I have one of those winchs on my car/quad double axle trailer and it sits out in the weather with no problems. But that is no where near as bad as it will see on the back of your quad. That's why I suggested making it removable off the hitch mount. Then it would be in a rack bag or box until you need it. I leave a hitch slug in my Cat all the time with a 4 1/2" rise and a 2" ball and a loop welded on the the rise under the ball. Since I installed the loop have towed several guys with the tow strap thru the loop and up around the ball. It is very secure and easy to use. I don't ride alone anymore so a rear winch is not an issue for me as I am not going into any real nasty stuff by myself anymore.

A winch on the rear is a good idea, alot of people would rather not br pulled into deeper mud, or just dont have anything in front of them to hook. I alot of times would like to go back and choose a better route.
