front differential disconnect
#1
I am wondering if there is any way of putting a newer front differential under my 2001 400 to
be able to switch in and out of 4wd.I know that there was a kit available for the 300 but it wouldnt work on the 400.Could a person get one from the new style 400 with the push button and convert it to work. Also does anyone know if the gear ratios are the same or if they will even bolt in line with the shafts? Just wondering if maybe someone else may have done this before?

i just checked in to get a front diff lock for my 2002 500. yes it will switch out and cost is around $1200.00 for all that is needed.(this is for my model, so id assume yours to) includes cable,switch,diff.,2 new axles,(the plines are different on the new ones). but it sounds like yours is in 4 wheel all the time. is that right? if so there should be a locker to do just 2 wheel and 3 wheel (or 4 wheel drive). the new differentials gie the option for 2 whell, 3 wheel, or locked in 4 wheel drive. the 3 wheel just transfers power back and forth ,right front to left front .
