For those of you who are still wondering if it is possible to make your 300 have all three positions- IT IS! I tried to adjust the existing linkage without any luck. I succeeded in the goal by cutting the shifting rod and lengthening it by 1 1/2" and doing a little rebending. It works fine so far. The stock rod is 5/16" diameter. I purchased a piece of pipe that was 5/16" inside diameter, cut the rod and then cut a piece of the pipe 3" long and spliced the rod so it is now longer than original. The handle does stick out about an inch farther than stock in 2wd and 4wd and flat against the fender while locked. I don't think it will get in the way and if it does get bumped while riding it will go forward and not bounce you out of 4wd at the "TOTALLY" wrong moment. Hope this helps those of you who have been thinking of doing the same to your front ends.
