Underpower????? How? Mine has gone everywhere any of the bigger engined machines have and the only thing is won't do is run faster than about 50 mph, which is just not that important to sane people and besides who cares to run 50+ mph on tires with 5 psi in them.
Now THAT is an experience I had on my friends Polaris 500 H.O. - 50+mph on 5psi tires and I did not like it one bit. I had just forgotten about that until now. All this information is helping me decide towards the 400TRV instead of the 500TRV.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the quad and good price too. The winch is always handy for pulling out your riding partners or if you are a hunter for getting the game out of that ravine they always end up in.

Ok, now I pissed. We took it out for the first time on Sunday to do a little trail riding. We got 5 miles from the truck when it wouldn't even make it up a small hill. We put it in 4 whell drive and it barely made it up. The belt screeched and smoked a little bit. We let it cool down a little and I decded to have a look at the belt. I pulled the cover off out on the trail and a bunch of oil poured out from the belt side cover. Well we were done for the day and I had to tow the quad back to the truck. I loaded it up and took it home. I called the place I got it because it came with a 2 year warrenty. They said bring it in and they will fix it as soon as they can. It sounds like the crank seal was bad from the start. Has anyone have this happen to them? Thanks for your help.
Rob

The engine is made by Suzuki. Did they fix you up with quick repairs? I haven't heard of bad crank seals, but all it takes is a little nick in the seal on install and they start leaking.

They actually replaced the whole quad as they tried to fix it and it didn't work. I will tell you what I don't know of any other manufacturer that would replace a whole quad. I think I'm an Arctic cat owner for life.

NICE! I have been eyeing up the 400 4x4 LE that is over at Gander Mountain. Gotta find a different dealer locally as they are not ones to deal on price.

I just bought a 400EX, but having a 4x4 would be nice when it comes time to plow the driveway this winter. Plus something for the wife to putt around on in the yard and across the street that has a CVT and is not a speed demon. Would be a nice quad to take fishing and for something to pull me and my kids quads out when we get stuck.

Plus I love the green on that LE machine.

Lordv,
Are you saying your getting the 400 4X4 auto for that price? It sounds more like you are getting the 400 4X4 VP model (value price model) That one has a solid axel in the rear and a smaller gas tank, differnt instrument panel and some other differences. I'm sure it is still a good quad as I think anything Arctic Cat makes is a good deal and I now know they will take care of you if they are a lemon.

yeah, as has been stated dont pay any attention to that underpowered bs, have 2 400 class machines and theyre both more than adequate for any normal rider.....
